Use your own antenna or TV server
How to play free-to-air TV from an HDHomeRun tuner or a Tvheadend server in Watch More, using the M3U playlist and XMLTV guide they publish on your home network.
Why this works
Watch More plays any source that publishes an M3U playlist, and many home TV setups do exactly that. If you receive TV through an antenna tuner or run your own TV server, you can watch it on every phone, tablet and TV in the house with one app.
HDHomeRun network tuners
- Find the tuner's address in your router or in the HDHomeRun app, for example
192.168.1.40. - In Watch More, add a source with Source Type set to M3U URL.
- Use
http://<tuner-address>/lineup.m3uas the Playlist URL.
The lineup.m3u export needs recent tuner firmware. HDHomeRun tuners do not publish a TV guide in this playlist, so add an XMLTV guide in EPG URL (optional) if you have one for your channels.
Tvheadend servers
- Create a Tvheadend user with streaming rights, or allow streaming from your home network.
- Add a source with Source Type set to M3U URL.
- Use
http://<server>:9981/playlist/channelsas the Playlist URL. - Use
http://<server>:9981/xmltv/channelsas the EPG URL, so the guide matches your channels.
If your server asks for a login, check the Tvheadend documentation for playlist authentication options that suit your setup.
Other servers
Any TV server or tuner that publishes an M3U playlist and, ideally, an XMLTV guide works the same way. Look for "M3U", "playlist" or "IPTV output" in its settings.
On your home network only
These addresses only work at home unless you have set up secure remote access yourself. Watch More connects to them directly and sends nothing to us.
